In Short
- The PCB denied reports of a virtual meeting with the ICC and BCCI regarding the 2025 Champions Trophy.
- The delay in the tournament’s schedule is due to India’s refusal to play in Pakistan over security concerns.
- An internal ICC meeting may soon take place to discuss the tournament’s scheduling issues.
- The PCB opposes the “Hybrid Model” and insists on hosting the Champions Trophy entirely in Pakistan.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has denied reports about a meeting with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on November 26. The PCB says it has not received any information from the ICC about such a meeting.
The Champions Trophy schedule has been delayed because the BCCI refuses to send the Indian team to Pakistan. The reason for this is security concerns and political tensions between the two countries.
The PCB is still waiting for a response from the ICC regarding why India does not want to play in Pakistan. The uncertainty around the tournament is growing, and many people hope for an answer by the end of the year.
An ICC official said an internal meeting could be held soon to solve the issue. The meeting will try to find a solution to finalize the tournament’s schedule.
One idea being discussed is the “Hybrid Model.” This model would have India’s matches played in the UAE while other games would be in Pakistan. However, the PCB does not support this idea.
The PCB insists on hosting the Champions Trophy in Pakistan and says it will not accept any change in location or format, especially if it means moving the India-Pakistan match out of Pakistan.
